Pastoral Staff
Senior Pastor
Rev. John and Mary Ann Martz came to Blue Springs Assembly in January of 1997. They have been in full-time ministry since 1986, serving churches in Wisconsin and Southern Missouri. Rev. Martz is a graduate of Central Bible College, and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, both of Springfield, Mo. His leadership reflects his dedication to prayer and the study of God's Word. He has a pastor's heart and a strong love for people, as well as the local church and community.
Mary Ann is a graduate of Evangel College, also in Springfield. She is a helpmate to her husband, while working in the church office and in the music and drama ministries. They have two children: Whitney and Jonathan.
Senior Associate Pastor
Rev. Matt and Felicia Schmidly came to Blue Springs in December 2002. They lead Life Groups, the Host Team, and various other ministry areas. Pastor Matt speaks in the Wednesday night Adult Bible Study, in many Sunday night services, and leads Pursuit. He is a 2000 graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo.
Felicia attended Evangel University in Springield. She is gifted in music and is a vital part of the ministry team. Pastor Matt and Felicia served as Youth Pastors at Blue Springs Assembly until January 2008. They have two children: Will and Kaytlin.
Music Pastor
Rev. Tim and Tami Taylor joined the pastoral team in the fall of 1999. Together they have served in full-time music ministry in churches in Kentucky, Southern Missouri, and Dallas, Texas. Tim is a graduate of Oral Roberts University, and is an accomplished pianist, director, and orchestrator. He has a heart for worship and a love for God's people.
Tami is a graduate of Evangel College and teaches community-wide music classes for children, and works alongside her husband in music ministries. They have three children: Lucas, Leslie, and Levi.
Children's Pastor
Rev. David and Karen Stevens joined the Blue Springs Assembly staff in November 2003 to serve as pastors to our kids. They are both graduates of Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Tx., and have served in various children's ministries for over 20 years. They have ministered in churches, as well as on the evangelistic field, and have been featured workshop speakers at children's conferences throughout the Midwest. At present, they lead the annual U Can Do conference that draws children's workers from all over the Midwest.
Karen is an integral part of the ministry team, serving alongside her husband. The Stevens have a desire to see "hundreds of kids commit their lives to Christ and serve God will all their hearts." They have two sons: Dusty and Jeremy.
Student Ministries Pastor
Pastor Jeremy Naranjo joined the Blue Springs staff in January 2008 as Student Ministries Pastor. He leads our ministries to middle school, high school, and college-aged students. He served BSA during the summers of 2006 and 2007 as pastor intern. His ministry proved so valuable that he was brought on as a full-time pastor following his graduation from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo. in 2007.
He is currently engaged to Catie Martin and will be married July 19, 2008. Catie will graduate from Central Bible College in May of 2008. Catie will help minister with Pastor Jeremy at BSA in July and will certainly prove to be a crucial partner in this ministry.
